I would like to hear your thoughts on paid holidays in training centres or private schools....some schools I have worked for pay for no stat holidays(golden weeks) others have paid for 2 weeks. My current one says that the 'intensives' or summer camp, if you will, pays for our 4 weeks of vacation. Now, It's my understanding that, according to the chinese government, foreign teachers in China are intitled to 4 paid weeks of vacation per contract term. So, that means the 4 weeks of summer intensives and 2 weeks of winter intensives are effectively free labor? |

getting paid to show up for intensives sounds more like a job than paid vacation time. |

It would have to be stated in the labor laws.. and further, restated in the provincial regs that govern foreign labor...but I doubt it....
safea regs may in fact state that... |
