Rediculous indeed. What is that, Daffy Duck talk?

Unless I misinterpreted a UK colloquialism, I don't think anyone threw any threats. You have made yourself an easy target by belittling the purpose of the board and all the opinions that everyone has contributed on it. The negative opinions, anyway. And those posts, pro and con, serve to help others (including you) steer clear of making poor job choices. Alsoe yur speeling and gramer wich r reely badd.

You are going to be working at English First which has consistently received plenty of negative posts on the board. You then proceed to gloat about how "rediculous" that feedback is. You haven't even arrived yet, but are laughing at us because of this wisdom you possess, a wisdom that previous EF employees apparently do not possess, and who are merely ranting and naming and shaming a school, as you said.
Maybe you're just psyching yourself up to fight through what you know might very well be a bad decision. I've done that before, though not exactly in this manner. Heck, you're moving to a new country, which in itself requires a certain amount of "powering through." Well, I hope it all works out for you. Not all the EF folks are unhappy, so maybe it will be ok. |
Roger that Sam!!!!
I Don't think Dave's motivation in building such an informative website and forum was for naming and shaming ... but you can take a walk over to TEFL Shcool Watch and read some interesting posts on there. Sam I've been in this position plenty of times and have been a member of other forums for many years. You can throw the majority of threads through the spellchecker and still come out confused sweetheart
Over and POUT!!!!! |

There use to be a review section that did just that but that section was closed sometime ago.. so you may be at least partly right....but the ongoing topic section does serve that notion...and will likely serve you as well...enjoy your time here on Dave's |

Economy crisis in education mate? Looking at my emails everyday tells me there are thousands of jobs. I have hundreds and sorting through them takes time.
I only except the schools that can be bothered to call me personally to be honest. I haven't left home skint, so i'm not gonna starve.
Nanjing looks nice Bro! |

There have obviously been some bad EF schools.
However, they are all franchises, and as such, vary a lot.
It seems to me that the DOS is the person who determines the workability of a place. A good DOS makes for happy teachers.

The problem is that the EF franchises outnumber the non-franchises, don't they ? And how can you tell which is which anyway ?
Btw Jonah, if you really are an English teacher I suggest brushing up on your English. |

I'm a real teacher with clean shoes. And you?
What's the point in arguing with other teachers about their ability to teach. I have met teachers from other boards who tell a great story, perfect grammar, good accents and lovely handwriting. The problem is their methods of teaching simply don't work. (spellchecker)
BTW ... i didn't understand your franchise story, sorry

The problem doesn't seem to be methods. As apparent from this thread, your word choice confuses even native speakers. (Clean shoes ? Story?) I imagine your students would be even more confused.

Still confused about your franchise story.
What does a basic ESL teacher know about running a franchise?
Your confusing yourself mate!
Your students have a great teacher and must speak pefect English.
Only positive comments from me I'm afraid.
Good Luck! |

well, a "basic" one knows probably a bit more than a "basic" EF franchisee, i reckon
you know, they award franchise licenses to those with money in china
ohh, and if the franchisor doesn't compromise on "expansions" for existing franchisees, they'll clone the hell out of ya

Just as this thread was slowly slipping down the page Englishgibson bumps it back up again!
I never understood this thread ... it seemed to refer explicity to another one ... and I never knew what one it was? Maybe its just me ...
Anyway, according to the first post, Jonah you should have arrived now? How has it been thus far? China, EF etc? |
