|
|
Hi, everyone. I just had an interview with the director of studies at LL, Moscow. They said they'd let me know wthin a week whether or not they want to offer me a job. I have TESOL certification, an internship, a BA degree in journalism and 9 years of business writing and editing experience. I'm concerned about the one-week waiting time, because the school year starts in September and it takes so long for the paperwork. Are there any current LL teachers in Moscow who might be able to give me a hint as to my chances of getting hired at LL? Thanks! |

Just imagine that you posted the same question, describing the same qualifications, for a job at McDonald's.
It's pretty much the same thing... |

Groovy, thanks! Dunno, didn't sound like any McDonald's interview I ever went on! They didn't ask me about past drug references, whether or not I had a car, or if I'd stolen from any employers before. Never had to explain the past continuous tense in any MickeyD's interview before either! But besides all that, I'm sure they're both the same thing. |

Sorry, envelopez, I should have given more context with that comment. I'll just say look up any one of the thousands of threads on the "McSchools", which basically function with McDonald's as their business model - something antithetical to serious education, retention of quality teachers, etc. You'll undertsand what I mean pretty quickly, I think. |

Hmm. Maybe they didn't need to ask you about drug use because it wouldn't be a problem!
Joking aside, Rusmeister is right about the McSchools. The question should be do you want to accept the job (- they almost certainly will offer you it). As McSchools go, it is considered even more lacking in academic grounding than most. But if you really want to come to Russia, then LL will do the trick for you for your first time here.
In any case, you will have plenty of time re the visa application. And while the job may start in September, that can be pushed back a week or two. Classes run year round, so there really isn't a school year to speak of.
Best of luck to you. |

Don't go to Russia and work for one of these Mac firms......in fact, don't even seriously consider Russia as a work option for the forseeable future because the economic situation there is bad,on top of all the other things and could even get worse by September.Time will show. |
