Could someone tell me just what medical tests / vaccinations are required for Saudi Arabia work visas?

Download the medical form from the Saudi embassy. Give it to the doctor.
It's mainly STD's and HIV. You need a chest xray for check for TB. First question on the form is " Do you have VD.?" or words to that effect.
Enjoy

You can find the medical report here:

http://www.saudiembassy.net/files/PDF/MedicalReport.pdf

It comprises all the medical tests that you have ever heard about, and those you have never heard about Shocked

try to do them as soon as you can as they may take up to three weeks, and keep your receipts, some employers pay these costs back.

good luck

The exact requirements for the medical vary from embassy to embassy, but the test is always pretty extensive. You will almost certainly have to do an AIDS test, as well as one for TB and various other infectious diseases. Your doctor may use his or her discretion and not bother to test you for illnesses - such as bilharzia! - which there's only a very remote chance of you having.

Despite all these expensive and troublesome tests, however, you might be surprised at how many people turn up in the Kingdom who are visibly unfit to work. This is probably because the medical focuses more on contagious diseases than on general health, and also because many doctors may be reluctant to declare someone unfit for work on health grounds, particularly as they're never going to have to deal with the irate employer who is so many miles away!

I'm not talking about all the many social misfits/weirdos who turn up on these shores, but about those several colleagues I have had who were clearly not up to the job on a physical level. Teaching - if done well - requires a lot of energy and KSA can be a stressful place, especially for new arrivals. I don't want to be too specific, but I have worked with people who even to my uneducated eye were obviously unfit for work. Sure, they may have got the all clear on the malaria test, but could they deal with a roomfull of raucous teenage students?

Well, littleoldlady, a person is "visibly not fit for work" means that his brain is 'unvisibly not fit for purpose'! Laughing

well, 007, invisibly unfit for not working might equal visibly fit for working. A triple negative equals a positive negative. A quadruple negative equals a negative positive.
