Anyone know cost of a small car hire in Abu Dhabi? There are lots of companies, Herts, Europcar, Budget etc.. Which one do folks recommend? |

Check out your employer. They are most likey to have an account with one of the established companies with a discounted price already negotiated. Often a good starting point. We hired through our company account with Hertz a new Toyata for 1700 per month though it could have been less had we hired more long term.

I hired a Nissan Tiida through Thrifty for about 1850/month. They weren't bad...just hard to get to and park w/in Abu Dhabi. I've always had good luck w/ United Car Rentals, too.
Are you looking for a monthly rate or a daily rate? |

Looking for a monthly rate. Got an estimate from Europcar for 1,200 thought that was a very good deal. Others seem to charge more than double this? |

That is a fantastic deal...does it include insurance? I haven't seen prices that low in about 6 years. |

Is it possible to hire a driver with a car? If so, how does it work? |

It wouldn't be in a teacher's budget to do so on a full-time basis. I've never heard of any teacher doing so. Some make arrangements with a taxi driver for a regular pick-up. I tried that system for a few months in Kuwait, but it didn't work for me. I went and bought a car as soon as my pay arrived. (that can take months in Kuwait)

A regular taxi driver would work, I imagine. Or not?
Do you recommend having a car there? This may be a silly question, as I am not yet there, and have never been, so I don't know the lay of the land. |

I'm very intrigued by the prospect of a cheap month-by-month rental agreement. Given all the hassle of car ownership, I'd be willing to shell out a little more for the peace of mind... |
