Black magic is no crime, rules court
A Doha court has ruled that black magic is not a crime in Qatar and acquitted a Pakistani of related charges pressed by his sponsor.
The sponsor had filed a complaint with the police saying that he found a roll with unknown scripts in the purse of the accused and claimed they were meant to harm him.
The accused said that he got the paper with the scripts from a religious man, during a trip to his country for medical treatment five years ago.
He claimed that the sponsor, who had bought the ticket and gave him QR7,000 for the trip, knew about him keeping the scripts in his purse.
The court saw the scripts and said they were meaningless and did not indicate anything.
The court said that the suspect did not use the papers fraudulently as black magic to gain the money of others but it was found in his wallet.
The court also said what the suspect did was not mentioned in Qatars law book and therefore cleared him.

Those of us who live nearby will miss the cheap restaurants on Electricity Street. A real shame this is going under the wreckers.

Qatar-Bahrain Friendship Bridge finally approved

A bridge that will link Qatar and Bahrain has finally been approved, after years of being stalemated in its developmental stages, The Media Line reported. The bridge, which will span 40km, will significantly reduce travel time between Qatar and Bahrain: the journey presently takes about five hours and requires a trip to Saudi Arabia, but via the bridge it will take 30 minutes. The Qatar-Bahrain Friendship Bridge will begin in Raas Asheerj, Qatar, and will end in North Askar, Bahrain. The bridge will be an extension of the already-existing King Fahd causeway, which links Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
