So far I haven't had luck finding a job from the USA, but I am not letting that discourage me. Most people say you really need to be there to find a job. Anyway, I am going to start feeling out my VISA application soon. I plan on getting a tourist. I have friends I can stay with. Will putting their address as my location improve or hurt my chances of getting my VISA approved?

Ive never heard of a tourist visa being rejected for Brazil for a first time visitor from the US as long as you got the following: A bank statement showing that you got a couple of thousand dollars and a return ticket back out of Brazil from wherever you came from before six months after you arrived.

Im pretty sure your friend's address (or any other address in Brazil) should be fine. Its more like "show us the money and your ticket outta here". - As is everywhere.

Actually I am not a first time visitor. I came down in 2006 on a student VISA.

I have recently sent in a tourist visa application to the Brazilian consulate in Miami. They did not request a bank statement. I hope I wasn't expected to send one in order to get the visa approved as we are leaving at the end of this month. Very Happy

Well, my visa was recently approved and no financial statement was required. At least for a tourist visa...I can't say about the other types. I leave on July 23rd and will be staying in Curitiba...hoping to check out some ESL schools in the area. Although I won't be graduating until May 2010 so I am not moving anywhere yet. Wink
