Visited but never lived in either of them .... Matsuyama and Shizuoka. Very pleasant.

Lived in Gifu (1/2 mill) and found it relatively pleasant.

Does anyone have any other comments on living in Gifu? Probably in the centre of town?

Also has anyone ever lived in or have comment on living in Kochi (shikoku)

Thanks!

Kagamigahara in Gifu is very nice. It's right across from the bridge to Inuyama in Aichi.

Kochi is also an excellent choice. People in Ehime call Kochi people "southern people" kinda like tropical people.

Three multi-color thoughts:

1) Do not, under any circumstances, teach English in Gunma.

2) Do not, under any circumstances, teach English in Gunma.

3) Do not, under any circumstances, teach English in Gunma.

Best,
V.

(Mind you, I`ve been told Vietnam is happening.)

vash,
Three multi-colored question words.

Why not Gunma?

A quote I found:

"Gunma women have a reputation for being unsightly."

Discuss.

Beyond that, there is a definite coldness in Gunma amongest the village folk. I`ve travelled a little (Nagoya, Osaka, Tokyo), and the spirit here is definitely lacking. It`s as if you`ve crashed a non-party, where everyone was kinda bored, and now they`re irritated that you`ve shown up. It`s not just traditional, conservative, country living, or whatever....something is afoot.

I reckon it`s something dark and sinister.

And the interesting thing is....the Gunmamites are aware of it! I won`t go so far as to say the land is cursed, but maybe I should.

That said, the 3000 model is strong and supple like a willow tree:

The hatred and wrath of 10,000 bobbing armless, legless Gunma phantoms mean nothing.

(So long as they stay out of my strawberry patch)

Cheers!
V.
