I've mentioned on another thread that I've been approached by ARAMCO so it would be a direct hire as an Advanced ITC Instructor/Teacher.

Anyone know what this might entail? How good are they as employers? From what I've read on the web it all looks great on a direct hire.

Is there a chance of EFL specialism with them? I'm in Aviation which I don't really want to change too drastically (I might be bored teaching rig guys).

Anyone know about their grading system? If you are Grade 11+ it looks like a great package. Where might I stand?

How autonomous can you be? Will I be told to do it the 'Aramco way' and no other? Can I be creative?

Any info gratefully received!

In the past, it was posted here that they do not direct hire for TEFL... you have to take the lower level positions with recruiters.

Things must have changed, got an e-mail from them on this week out of the blue, they had found me.

Anyone with more knowledge on ARAMCO?!

Yes, but were they approaching you for TEFL? You suggest that this approach was something to do with "Advanced ITC Instructor/Teacher." Not sure what that is, but I don't recall any posters from ARAMCO here for the last ten years or so that weren't asking about the recruiters. Direct hires have been known as the fortunate few... and the reputation is of good pay and conditions although details have been very sketchy to non-existent here.

It doesn't seem that their tapping you for a job in your specialty has much to do with their hiring history of TEFL teachers... at this time of year, most teachers are traveling and not online, so we can only hope that someone drops in.

It sure would be good news if they started direct hiring TEFL teachers again.

Having spoken with their Expatriate Advisor I've found out it's a general EFL role. What the title actually means & where I would stand in their pecking order I have no idea.

Any more thoughts on this role?

Apparently a company called Expat Teaching are currently recruting for ARAMCO and interviewing short-listed candidates next week in London.

Interesting, so they are still using recruiters ... which is a different ballgame altogether in terms of package etc from what I understand.

Has anyone on here worked for ARAMCO on a direct hire? Does anyone know anymore. From what I understand I could be at any of their bases.

I am sorry to disappoint you but as others have posted this is probably not a direct hire contract.

THe only direct hire jobs for teaching are done for the Aramco school on the Aramco compound and that is for school teachers not ESL teachers.

As for the pay and conditions it depends on what country you come from.

US grade code 11 is quite a good salary but if you are British or Aussie then you are on the UK payroll which is a fair bit less.

The ITC is not a very good place to work and you will also have the problem of accommodation and what you get will depend on the company you are going through.

DOes the company offer multi exit re entry visas?

WHere will you be posted if you get the gig?

If you are really short on cash might be okay but there are a lot of potential problems with this contract.

If it turns out that it is direc hire which unless they have changed their hiring policy then grab it with both arms as you will never get a better gig anywhere.

It's a direct hire! Guaranteed !! Having spoken to Aramco's Expatriate Recruitment Rep, who also has an Aramco e-mail address and a desk in Aramco offices!!!

So why grab it with both hands ... heard this before & would like to know more. As for a base it's not been defined, but from what I can tell if there's room on the DH compound it will probably be there or Ras Tanura.

What passport do you hold TT Kira?

The passport will determine how good things are.

If you have a US or Canadian passport it is a fantastic offer with great benefits. The super package is the big one here.

I can give you an example of one of my US friends who did 11 years at the school on compound. He was a grade code 11.

He left with payout of 600K US and free medical for life plus they paid a fair bit towards the US college education of his kids.

If you are on a UK passport benefits are still good but no super, free health care or assistance with college education and the monthly salary is less but still pretty good.

Mark

Sounds pretty amazing!

I'm a 'strange' one as I'm on an Irish passport but resident in France under French tax laws, I can also get a British passport - so not sure what payroll I'll be on (but I'll do anything NOT to be on the French one!)

I know I'll be GC11 minimum ... that's been determined by a few other threads I've read elsewhere.

As a female & very independant my only worry is if I will be able to deal with that type of environment ....

Thanks for the first post of interest!!!

They know I'm female, so I'm not sure what the status quo will be in regards to that.

In terms of 'environment' I'm not worried by Saudi as such quite used to Islamic culture & find it interesting. It's more living in a full expat community but on the other hand I know that if I do go to Saudi I wouldn't want to live in town ...

VS - do you ever have anything positive to say?!
