"The teaching is not exactly easy from what I have heard."-Egyptfan

Can you elaborate more on this?

teaching not easy........ again, this is only hearsay.
There are different programs in Aramco and the teaching is much nicer on some of the programs. At worst, you are talking 5-6 lessons a day, materials may not be all that interesting, some students are low level and motivation can be a problem. Discipline is not supposed to be a a major issue but it could surface from time to time.

Markemark, I think I can see a reason for your 21K vs my 29K figures

with accommodation provided on a secure western compound,

The figures I had didn't even include a tent!

For newbies, and those who like their comforts, the compound would be a big plus. Personally, I'd prefer the higher figure and would happily get my own accommodation and transportation.

I also assume (and agree) that Aramco has no direct hire for us TEFL boys but TT Kira seems to have been approached as a direct hire candidate - probably because she's a tefl lady and also because she seems to have a lot more going for her in terms of ESP and experience than the average male tefler.

First or in regards to salary Saudi Aramco sets the salary not the recruiter.

You are put by SA on a grade code usually 11 and within that grade code there are bands and the difference can be quite significant from a low grade code 11 to a high grade code 11.

Then you have to consider your recruiter. Depending on what they bid for the contract they will pay more or less than another recruiter for the same person.

Jatco was the best a few years ago and probably still is.

Then you have to consider the nationality as different nationality get different rates. US and Canadian at the top of the pile.

Then you need to consider the contract. By law they should offer a contract with holidays and accommodation and transport and food.

However you can get an all in figure and get your own accommodation and car. This is easy if you are already in Kingdom or know the score but not so easy if you aren't.

For a US passport holder you would get more than 20k rats a month with all benefits i would think based on what i know but there are many variables as i have outlined.

Finally the Aramco offer does have some wriggle room but not much and most people never try to bargain but if you don't care you could try for 10 percent more.

I, along with others I would assume, would like to know the secrets to getting hired by the major oil companies in the ME. If one goes directly to the web sites it can be confusing if not impossible to find the vacancy board on their site. And a lot of the companies use recruiters, who are also difficult to track down.
Any comments out there, or llinks to the employment sites?
Thanks!
