|
|
I'm from Sydney and want to do a short term stint for 6 weeks or so of teaching, this because I'm a university student and I'm constrained by my university summer break. I have a 4 week TESOL certificate, a business english certification and I've taught English in Vietnam and Australia, so I'm fairly well qualified.
What cities would be good to easily find short term employment for about 6 weeks? What resources could I use to try to find a job before I arrive. I've been looking at certain programs such as this, http://www.i-to-i.com/search/?wherefrom=quicksearch&pagefilter=0&fld_diffby=diffby_teaching&fld_duration=any, but they're very expensive and more like volunteer programs. I'd appreciate everyones ideas and responses, thanks. |

6 weeks is pretty hard, but you might be able to find some camp jobs. They usually start advertising in May. |

Very little such work in Europe - contracts are typically much longer- it's not worth it, otherwise. |

Try China or Taiwan, might have some luck there. If you have a work permit you might find camp work in Italy, Spain or Ireland, or the UK |

Thanks for the replies everyone. This is exactly what I want to do, to isolate countries that I won't reasonably be able to work at and therefore find countries that I can work at. Also additional information, I am 21 years old and have not yet finished my university degree. I've completed 2.5 years of a 4 year degree.
Should I focus on Asian countries because Europe would be to difficult? Also how could I go about trying to secure a job before I leave? |

MOD EDIT
You could burn a working holiday visa if you want to work in Japan, but that would be a shame for only 6 weeks, even if you could get hired. |

Is it ever possible to apply for jobs with a longer contract period, and depart before it ends? Or is this very messy to do? |

Yes, this can be done for any job, however it is unprofessional and if you are still in university (especially for anything teaching related), it will earn you a very poor reference. |
