My boyfriend is finishing up his PHD early next year and possibly going to be working at a non-EFL job in UEA. I have been thinking of looking for a teaching job there for awhile now. As living together is not an option for unmarrieds, getting jobs in the same city is our idea.
I am currently under contract until Feb. 2010. My problem is filling the time between leaving this job and starting another probably next fall. Does anybody know about lanuage study courses or something taught in english that I could take for a few months? |

Too bad you can't get finished a few weeks early because there are places that will be hiring for the second semester which starts in late January/early February. But you haven't mentioned what kind of job you will be looking for.
I'm not clear what kind of thing you would be interested in studying. Professional development? CELTA? Arabic?

This is the forum for the UAE not the University of East Anglia in Norwich! |

I am looking for things to do in the UAE while possibly waiting for a fall start job.
As for kinds of classes, language, cooking, photography, professional development would be good... I would like to know what is available.
As for work, I am not looking for help with that yet. This is all still very "what if...?" My BF worries about details like this and I would like to have some options to hit him with. The timing is a bummer, but I would like to do something fun and productive if possible between jobs. |

Um...get married...then you can live together.
If you don't want to get married yet, why let your life revolve around a man and his goals/jobs? |

How about a CELTA or DELTA?
The thing is... can you just arrive and hang out for months and take classes? Where would you live?
