| P.S. Schools are in no way liable for foreign teachers. |
Even if they were - how on earth do civil complainants take a school to court because of the actions of an FT - the police probably wouldn't even turn up if a neighbor complained of non-stop barking from the FT's privately rented, nothing to do with the school apartment - the system just doesn't work like that out here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And the chance that the FT's dogs are ones out of millions that carry plague fleas - well if they are culling your dogs because of that - make sure the CT mutts also get the chop.
I realy suspect this has nothing to do specificaly with dogs - it has it roots in a whole other matter - an employer wanting to get maximum control of an employee, and making an issue of a small non-teaching related matter to try and show who's boss. After all if it was the dogs as a liability example - well any possible accident you could cause should make them panic over potential liability issues - and they should react with - no bike, no gas appliances in your apartment, no smoking (fear of starting fires), no drinking (fear of starting fights) - no going off-campus |

| If a school ever told to me to stop doing something perfectly legal in an apartment i was renting i would politely tell them what i do in my own time and off campus is none of their concern. did they ever give a reason why they want you to get rid of the dogs? |

Speaking from the point of view of someone who lived below a Chinese couple with two dogs, I'd say lose the dogs. Many of these flats have no insulation. Sound is amplified. Dogs doing whatever they do is a real annoyance to people living below. If they bark, even worse.
I like dogs; however, Chinese flats were not designed with keeping dogs in mind. Lose 'em or find another job, far out in the country, where the dogs will not bother other people living packed together like sardines. |

So that's that. I'm not allowed to live off campus and I'm not allowed to have dogs.
The school is not going to sign my contract. ACCEEC (the Australian agency) found me another school in Hebei that they are affiliated with. They-the new school have been told of my dogs and that I will choose to live off campus.
I'm outta here.
Thanks for your input and advice. |
