My GPA isn't bad but I have definitely started slacking off my senior year. Do employers in China even care about GPA?
I made this same post in the Japan forum and they said that GPA does not matter. Is China the same way? |

It isnt going to matter. I dont even know what a GPA is to be honest. It isnt something we Brits have...and there are enough of us in China, managing quite well without GPAs.
Dont worry |

Employers wouldn't know what GPA is. Diplomas don't really matter here either. Just be white and not morbidly obese. That's about it. |

Yes, I am capable of using chopsticks. I don't understand how that is related though...
What do they check then? They just want to see that you are white and have a degree? |

Well, ability to sing and dance is also considered an asset.
Do you have hairy arms? That helps, too. |

Not entirely I've met a few black dudes also, that have scored a ride on the Chinese gravy train. |

From what I've seen, morbid obesity is not an issue. |

The morbidly obese ones I've met that laud the greatness of Jesus with preacher-like assumptions are the most lol IMO.
That said, from what I've seen, rube-like migrants tend to really enjoy their company. |

To give the OP a more helpful answer, it really depends on where you work. The standard public schools and private mills don't care, as has been pointed out. There are, however, some programs that do consider your degree, where you where schooled, and other qualifications. I don't think that my GPA was a maker or breaker for my employment, but the person who made the decision definitely saw it on my resume. He also say the institution I earned my degree at, which was helpful.
I think many FTs in China become very disillusioned with the Chinese EFL market and, therefore place all positions in the same boat. Most jobs here are not serious about academics, just make the students and employer happy by being enjoyable and malleable and everything else doesn't matter. Again, there are some jobs that take academics seriously. It is still good for your students to like you, but the main point is that you provide necessary information for them to learn (no entertaining required). There are also professional employers who respect your personal space. |
