Run.....run like you have never run before.....and don't look back. Evil emanates from the very words of this offer.

My advice for this and any other job in KSA is, go direct. Do not go through a recruiter or sub-contractor.

This bit of advice is valid and needs to be repeated again and again. In fact, the University of Hail started to use recruiters only about three years ago. Authorities at the university were warned not to use recruiters because of the damage that this practice could cause to the reputation of the university. Obviously, they did not heed this advice, and one only has to read some of the posts in this forum to realize that much damage has already been done to the university.

I have observed that some teachers who do go to Hail region are so shocked by the isolation of the place and by other aspects of the environment that they do not even bother to complete their contracts.

I believe that it is the responsibility of potential instructors to find out as many details as possible about the area before accepting contracts. If you can't stand isolation, don't go there. If you are an aficionado of elegant restaurants and fine dining, don't go there. If you are a young party-going type who must always have fun and excitement, don't go there. In fact, don't go to Saudi Arabia.

However, if you like a quiet, simple life, free from the noise and confusion of big cities, then go there. If you want to breathe clean, fresh mountain air rather than the toxic, carcinogenic smog normally found in urban North America, then, by all means, go and live in Hail region. You should have a worthwhile experience.

I was told by the guy at the university, Dr. Alhaisoni as follows,

I am happy about your CV and you will be contacted by M-tarading ( this is a company working with the university of Ha'il). They will hire you and then once you arrive you will be transfered to the University of Ha'il. The reason is that we have no time and we need at least three to four months to process your visa while the company can process your visa in weeks.

Best
Eid

As the story progresses, I was contacted by an alias company who was in a great rush. Does anyone know what the kids are like, because this Dr. Al Haisoni seems to be in on the scam or is just desperate. One wonders at the fundamental lack of respect that results in dirty apartments, etc. etc. etc.

The question is how long they will take to transfer the visa. You may well find you are working months before this happens. That said the procedure is not uncommon. JIC used to do it with Al-Falak,

It would be worth asking how many people transferred last year and how long it took, and also asking for their contact details.

Hi All: The posting done by the university directly, below, definitely lists air fare. For those of you who have been given inferior offers, it would be worthwhile emailing Dr. Alhaisoni directly, and asking why there is a difference. Let us all know what the answer is.

Dr. Eid Alhaisoni
University of Ha'il

I think half the TESOLers in the known universe have gotten this offer. How many openings do they have at this outfit? Surely the number of openings isn't even close to the number of offers they've given.

Later:

Holy Hell look at all those red flag posts on Yahoo. Do the search "M-trading Saudi Arabia" and enjoy the tasty morsels. The tulbah dot info site is really good. Thank you for steering me clear of this spider web, you guys at M-Trading Beware, as I may have walked right into it.

M-Trading, I hardly knew ya. Thank goodness for that.

Back to square one. Back to starting all over (yet again), that is.

Colorado has a law allows people to get life insurance, live a year, and then kill themselves with full benefits paid. I feel like moving to Colorado with my five or so guns. A year will go by fast.

*beep* this BS.
