Hi everyone!

Have arrived safely in Nizwa, and so far, everything is going pretty much as you all advised it would.

When I get settled, I will contribute further, but for now, VS and Pik, are right on target. Thanks guys, for all of your input, which is seriously appreciated!

Hi Turbster- a few of us who were formerly at PMU in Saudi Arabia will be arriving in September. We are really looking forward to Oman!

Everything has gone smoothly so far- but we are waiting to hear from HR about tickets, etc. The head of the program has been very responsive, as I am sure you know.

After some years in Saudi Arabia, I am sure Oman will be a breath of fresh, and free, air!

You are in Nizwa fairly early. How is the settling in? Do you have housing? I am encouraged by the correspondence amongst the new hires. If any of you reading this are veterans of the U., how about chiming in!

Turbs has already met a couple of my friends there... but they don't post here anymore. You know how it goes... one wants to be careful about posts until one leaves a place... Laughing

Of course, unless one genuinely likes the place where one works or is a mouth-piece of the administration...

A bunch of us are. We paid our dues in the land of the living dead, and are ready for a change of pace.

We completed our contracts, met our obligations, loved our students, and now we are moving on to a greener oasis.

Some of us took a field trip there in the spring, and loved it. Lots of outdoor life, and no abayas! And we drove a car the whole time. Lots of haram stuff like that.

It seems that we have made a good choice, from all feedback.

Are you going there, also?

Dear Pikgitina,
Just so long as it's not a den of inequity. Saudi's tops in THAT field. In fact, the din of inequity can be heard throughout the Kingdom.

John
