Hello there.
I was just curious if anyone knew of a site that has a list of Japanese area codes or what the phone numbers are like in general.
Not counting the area/city code, are there only six numbers?
I have a number here, but I'm not sure if it is a full number, or if the first four of those numbers, is the actual area/city code. |

The area code could be two, three or possibly four numbers. How many numbers the rest of the phone number has depends on the size of the city. In Tokyo for example, phone numbers have 8 digits not including the area code (03 for metropolitan Tokyo). Smaller cities may have only 7 or 6 digits in the main number. |

One of the numbers I have has ten digits. The other one is described in the way that you said it, eight digits, not counting the first three numbers. I'm assuming the 090 is the area/city code. The other number begins with 0125. |

Okay, thanks a lot! A job opportunity, and I wanted to call, but wasn't sure of the codes. I already knew the country code, but wasn't sure how the area codes worked.
So for the cell number, would I still need a city code and then the 090? |

No, just the number as it is, starting with 090. My cell number has 11 numbers in total incidentally, 090 and then another 8 numbers, but I have come across shorter ones. |

Thanks. I guess I'll make my call tomorrow night, round about 8:00 my time. I had questions about the position. I sent an e-mail about a week ago, but no answer, so figured it wouldn't hurt to call....or I could just try to call the cell now. It's about 5:30 pm over there now if I'm doing my math correctly.
Edit: Crazy. My cell isn't allowed to make int'l calls to other cell phones, only landlines. Guess I will have to wait until it's Monday morning there. |
