Hi All.
I'll be going to the states for a holiday next Wednesday and just realized that my American DL is expired. I have a Japanese license and found the Japanese govt. site which explains how to get an International license. The only thing I couldn't discover is if I can get it the same day. If not, it is too late.
Has anyone here ever gotten an international license in Japan? If so, was it a same day thing?

Nevermind. My wife found the info. I can get it the same day! So, I'll make this an FYI post.
If you need an international license for driving with your Japanese license overseas, they can be obtained the same day at your local driver's license bureau and are under �3.000.
You need:
1, 4X5cm photo
valid Japanese drivers license
passport
proof of upcoming travel (I'm hoping that an itinerary is enough on this one)

Kind of strange needing an international license to drive a car in my hometown. |
