If you do not have a passport from an EU member country, they can't get you a visa.
If you do have a passport from an EU member country, you don't need one.
It's a scam. |

After going through your CV,credentials and the written interview, the Director has selected you as one of the 2009/2010 English Teachers of Umpire International school.Though,no phone interview was conducted, the reason is that your qualification has deemed you fit for the position.Secondly, distant calls could be so noisy at times due to bad network connections.Nevertheless, you can call me through SKYPE, (umpireintlsch) or email me if you have any questions.
We have attached the work contract to this email, you are expected to sign the contract, dont forget to fill in your name at the space provided on the top of the contract. As soon as you have signed the contract, please scan, attach and send it to the school barrister for the final endorsement. Here is the barrister's email: [email protected]
Your living accomodation(very close to the school compound, less than 5 minutes walk),one bedroom studio with kitchen will cost 2760 euro for one year, that means 230 euro per month. As stated in the contract, teachers will pay only two months of the accomodation fee (460),while the school pays te rest(2300).Before your arrival to Spain, you are expected to send two months accomodation fee, which is 460 euros. It is our responsibility to furnish your apartment before your arrival.Obtaining your visa,if you need one, is the barrister's duty, kindly email the barrister for details.
Non EU,s will be requested to send 350 euros for the processing of their travelling and working documents.
In Summary Non EU's will send 350 euros, visa processing fee and 460 euros, two months accomodation deposit,a total of 810 euros. While the EU's will send only 460 euros being two months accomodation deposit.
We will pay your air ticket and send it to you through DHL courier service together with every other necessary document you might require for the work.On your day of arrival, the school driver will be sent in company of a staff to welcome you at the airport.
There is a great opportunity to for you to learn Spanish Language while working with us,registration is free, classes are arranged in groups of less than 13 people.
Below is a brief information about working and residing in Spain:
EU nationals
Spain recently announced that it will be opening its borders for workers from all EU countries in spring 2006. Therefore, as of that date, if you are an EU national you will not need a work permit to work in Spain you can enter the country as a tourist and register with the Spanish national employment office (Instituto Nacional de Empleo - INEM) to look for a job. You then have 90 days to find employment you can obtain an extension after that date or leave Spain and re-enter for a further 90 days. Once you find a job, you will need your employment contract in order to apply for your residence permit.
Non-EU nationals
Non-EUs who wish to work in Spain must obtain a work permit. They must also obtain a visa before moving to work in Spain.
Work permits must be applied for at the Foreigners' Office (Oficinas de Extranjeros) or to the provincial office of the Ministry of Labour (Delegacin Provincial del Ministerio de Trabajo). It is the Employer's duty to obtain all the necessary papers on behalf of the employee or as agreed by both parties.
How long will it take to get an employee on site with an Spanish work permit?
The supporting documentation needed is quite extensive and can take some time to collect. It must be submitted in Spanish, so translations should be taken into both time and financial budgets. Once the application has been lodged, processing takes between 1 and 2 months due to the highly bureaucratic systems designed to protect the resident labour markets.
Below is the money transfer information:
METHOD OF PAYMENT:Western Union Money Transfer
RECEIVER: Kingsley Anderson
ADDRESS:Arabista Ambrocio Huici ,13
Valencia, Valencia, Spain.
As soon as the transaction is completed, dont forget to scan, attach and send the payment slip to the Barrister's email address,it will be kept in your file for future reference.
NB: Only non Eu's are expected to pay the visa fee, both the EU's and Non EU's are advised to pay two months of the accomodation fee.A receipt will be issued to the candidate as soon as the payment is received. Both Eu's and Non Eu's are kindly requested to send their money within 4 working days.
The school's barrister,Kingsley Anderson will advise you further on the necessary steps to be taken.Kindly send the required fees ,email the signed contract to him and wait for further instruction. ([email protected])
Congratulations once more,
Arnau Javier. |

I also applied for a position at this school starting in Sept, and are awaiting to here back further details of where the school is, as I am unable to find any details on the internet, and they failed to state whether it is elementary or secondary. However after reading the below, I am also wondering if it is a scam, please let me know if you find out anymore.... |

I received the same offer the other day and was more than a little surprised given that they have never spoken with me/seen me etc.
It was obvious to me from the stuff they sent that this is utter rubbish.
Firstly, they are a school with only a skype account - no phone number - not very practical for recruiting students.
Secondly, they are not listed on Paginas Amarillas, don't show on any map and I am satisfied no school exists there - although there is one elsewhere on that same street.
Thirdly, they either have teachers accommodation available or they don't - it should not be necessary to pay to secure the accommodation - and if you did need to pay, that should be to the school's business account and not to the 'school's barrister' called Kingsley by direct money transfer.
In addition, all of their correspondence tries to justify their odd behaviour - i.e. we are offering you the job without a proper interview because phone calls can be noisy. You might not find mention of us in your internet searches as our site is under construction etc.
As if all of this wasn't enough - the last paragraph of their 'contract' (to be returned with receipt for payment) speaks volumes - 'UIS does not tolerate sexual harrassment, lateness to duty, having secret love affairs with students or any act of irresponsibility Any teacher that frequently practices the above devices might be suspended.' Good to know that infrequent sexual harrassment and non-secret affairs are ok. Sounds like it has been written by monkeys that have been watching too many soap operas.
Please don't part with any money to these people.
I replied to them out of interest asking if their offer still stands given that I prefer to sort my own accommodation and asked them who regulates their school. Unsurprisingly I received no response. |

I was told that i would be receiving my contract and accommodation on Thursday but they were asking me for 550 euros for a residency permit and NIE number.
But i havn't sent over any money. Has anyone else been confirmation of their ticket and accommodation or asked when they would receive it.
Kind regards

Total scam. That's why they have a Skype number and not a real land-line number. A school must have a telephone, surely?
The "Barrister"!! Spain does not have them. Spain has abogados (lawyers) and gestores and assesores. The last two are people who do basic stuff like doing paperwork and tax stuff.
The barrister is a product of the British law system, and is a lawyer who has taken bar exams and can represent you at a high court (like if you murdered someone).
This is probably another version of the Nigerian scam, of which there are 000s. The practice of scamming gullible folk via internet--asking for money for sick kids, offering jobs, offering lottery shares etc etc--is said to have started in Nigeria, with the Nigerian "mafia". Of course, scams can now come from anywhere, incl Russia. There are some very good websites which dedicate themselves to outing scams and even reply to them in organised and hilarious fashion.
Apart from the obvious stuff like no phone, many of these ads don't ring true. The text is a bit odd in places, or there is other stuff, spelling etc. The UMPIRE school of English is an odd choice for the name, IMHO.
As the man said, if something seems to good to be true, it probably is.
The 230e for apartment, then the "school pays" after 2 mths--absurd.
I have never heard of anybody providing an NIE number. You get that at the police station office, and you have to attend in person.
If u r from the EU, you don't need a visa. Otherwise you do. Read other threads. USA citizens can't work in Spain.
