Right now I'm waiting for the Chinese government to process my request to work in China, but I noticed that in order to get a Z-Visa, there were a few requirements. While I've done pretty much everything I need to do, it says that my passport needs at least 2 blank visa pages. Mine only has one since I've been doing some extensive traveling (the amendment pages are blank too). If this is going to be a problem, what should I do about it? Would I really need to get a new passport? I want to get this solved as soon as possible to not cause any delays. I'm going to try calling the consulate tomorrow.

| Have you had the "passport people" put in extra pages? I did that here in Shanghai at the US Embassy because I was having the same problem and they just did some miracle procedure and suddenly I got about 24 extra pages (well, 12 front and back) inserted. The longer I stay in China and the more I travel, it will only be a matter of time before I have to get a new passport (probably a couple of years before it actually expires!). |

ditto. You will need those two pages because the visa will take up one whole page (can't cover previous stamps, etc.) and then the resident permit will take up another whole page. Then, you need another blank page for the stamps you will get going through customs (I think...)
Like Kev said, they will charge you with a fee and unstitch your passport and stitch in new pages... |

| Last year those dummies at the embassy in DC wasted a whole page with a sticker that says the Z visa (on the opposite page) is only good for 30 days once you enter China. Thanks for nothing, jerks! |

That's why I always request the visa (and any stamps) be put on a particular page, usually works. And when I hand my passport over to any immigration official when crossing borders, I always paperclip all the pages I don't want them to stamp on shut, so when I hand the passport over, the only two pages they have open are the one I want them to stamp on and the personal details page at front. Otherwise some of these idiots stamp all over the place and subsequent officials can never find the entry stamp when you're on the way out of the country. |

| Yeah, new pages in my passport didn't cost me much and I had it done in about 45 minutes. |

Yeah, when I was frequently staying in hotels, even when I showed them my most recent date of entry, they'd still flip the pages all around and shake their heads at the stupid laowai who can't even keep his own passport straight. Then they'd ask retarded questions like "if you got here in June, why are staying in a hotel in Septmeber?" or "This visa was issued in Wenzhou, so I don't understand why you are in Shanghai." What a bunch of ninnies. |
