Has anyone experienced the extraodinary difficulties I have had with the recruitment website of BAH and HCT? The only reason I tooled and fooled around with both of them is because it's raining heavily where I am currently located. It takes the patience of Jobe to negotiate both of them; are they simply badly constructed or is there another reason? The only other reason I can think of is that both organisations believe applicants with an excess of patience are worth considering.
I am of the opinion that one needs to be remunerated well for the excess of crap one has to tolerate applying for and getting a job in the ME. |

What is BAH?
Some people seem to have problems with HCT's site and others don't. Another problem may be that HR is dealing with new hires... and Ramadhan... and aren't keeping up with it right now. Perhaps it is overloaded with applications?
Goodness... if you are complaining about being able to do this via the net, what would you have done when we only had snail mail and faxes? It could take 6-12 months to get an offer. Or they would make an offer rather quickly in say March... and then you wouldn't hear a peep until they called at the end of August and wanted you there tomorrow.
And... if you have the credentials, you are remunerated very nicely for the crap. But... as I recall, your experience thus far seems to be dealing with the shadier recruiters of Saudi... or perhaps the Middle East is just not the place for you.

Thanks for your eloquent responses. I have an offer in the ME that I have accepted pending further positive communication. So far so good. It is not located in one of the more popular locations and the salary does not reach the dizzying heights possible elsewhere. It has a few bad raps; but so what. It seems less flaky than most. If any of you need advice on working and living in my current locale please feel free to pm me. You will find it just as frustrating getting the low-down on employment conditions here; the ME does not have a lien on such.
As for the effort = the reward comment, VS; I think that you've read too much Weber and insufficient Coleridge. |
