Are contracts needed for part time teaching jobs in Taiwan? That doesn't seem necessary to sign a contract for a year for a little 8 hour a week job.

Thanks

I always get a contract, part time or not. otherwise you won't have a leg to stand on should things go sour.

Furthermore, if you are not on a marriage visa you should have a contract and a proper work permit for every job. Otherwise you might get busted by the police sometime.

Exactly, if the police decide to raid your school (actually happens more than you think) and you're there without a work permit. 1 word...deportation.

Do schools normally provide a work permit for part time jobs?

Usually you will have to insist on it.
