I understand the pessimism regarding bonuses, but lets keep things in perspective. The bonuses are an explicit part of the contract, and the corporate lack of transparency in the evaluative process makes it a very suspicious act that warrants further investigation. GEOS has been taken to court in the past for its unethical business practices, and they lost big time.

Imagine what would happen to GEOS if current and former teachers petitioned together for a claim against these corporate crooks. Eikaiwa integrity has already been damaged by Nova, and GEOS knows that it does not want its image to be likened to Nova in the media. |

What Cool Teacher said about the Geos staff payments being late is true. It's currently affecting the managers in at least the Kanto section of the company (not sure about the other sections). They were due to be paid on the 31st of last month, but it's been pushed back until today.
The NETs and JETs were paid on time, but doesn't look good for the future, huh? |

Hmmm....interesting! My inside soure says GEOS told them it was only in Kansai!!!! But he heard rumours it was in all of Japna! This means GEOS is not just paying late but lying about it too |

The "promises" in the bonus paymetns are too vague. You cant expect them to work out your binus the same way they do.

Yes, the "G" should stand for "GULAG"!!! The treatment of the Japanese staff is horribel.

| An article in The Japan Times noted the deplorable working conditions of GEOS staff. In 1999, the company was taken to court by fourteen of its managers over unpaid overtime. At the time of the case, the main plaintiff said that she was working a 72-hour week under constant unmanageable pressure to increase sales at her school. Even though the managers won their suit, costing GEOS 300 million yen in unpaid overtime, the media mostly overlooked the case. In the same article, managers noted high staff-turnover and long working hours. |

Nothing.
Well, dpeends on what you claim. If you mean everyone claim for a higher bonus then well I think nothing will happen. |

Bonuses are broken down into 5 categories, which get assigned letter grades from A to E and carry specific monetary values for each mark. After that, the categories are summed up and then multiplied by a coefficient that is based on how long youve been with the company. That process is straight forward and understandable; however, the way they base their decisions on peoples' marks is not transparent whatsoever. When I asked them to give me concrete reasons, they stopped responding to my emails. So, I have to assume that they are purposely giving sh1tty evaluations by overexaggerating anything they can find to reduce payouts. In addition, their unwillingness to put their reasons onto paper further reinforces their gross misconduct.

Where do you want to begin?
1. The unpaid non-teaching hours
2. The incorrect reporting of hours worked on paychecks
3. The constant harassment and threats by Head Office and their underlings
4. Their overbooking of students in classes when student contracts specify an explicit maximum number
5. Their overbooking of classes on teachers' schedules when teacher contracts specify an explicit maximum number.
6. Their illegal requirement of a 4 month notice to the company when terminating employment.
7. Their fraudulent tactics in regards to End of Contract Bonuses.
Im sure the list can go further, but my point is, there are a lot of legal issues to bring into light. If a lawsuit was carried out with the support of a large body of people, then the previously stated issues would certainly be decreased, if not expelled from practice. Not to mention the amount of extra monetary compensation that GEOS would be forced to pay, after investigations of 1,2, and 7 were performed. |

| A mob-esque radio commercial in Toronto when I was in my undergrad "Call 2 for 1 Oh! 2 for 1... eh bada bing bada boom" (241-0241 is the telephone number of a pizza place that gives you two pizzas for the price of one) |
Hey GambateBingBangBOOM,
It really doesn't matter, but wasn't it an East Side Mario's ad that went, "East Side Mario's, East Side Mario's, eh bada boom bada bing!"? |

Sounds highky specific and it is but if there's no explanation of what gets A or B or C or E then its vague. |
