No rent, no insurance payment, no airfare, cheap sightseeing.
You aren't going to find those situations in a heckuva lot of places, so reexamine your goals a little. Be prepared to pay for those things, and just make the most of the situation. People say the Middle East or Japan is the next best place for making money. I can't speak for the ME, but as for Japan, I'll tell you anything you want to know.
Essentially, come to the Japan forum and ask around for more, or just PM me. You could spend half a paycheck on basic necessities and have roughly 125,000 yen (roughly US$1000) left over for everything else in life. How you save or spend that is up to you. But be prepared to pay rent, airfare, and insurance.
General rule of thumb that I've given people for over a decade is this: if you are relatively frugal (not a cheapskate or monk), you should be able to save at least US$500 per month. A lot depends on where you live (rural or urban rent costs), your lifestyle (entertainment and food), and your financial savvy (sending home a certain amount right after payday, for example, just so you don't touch it). |

| And in the Middle East (the UAE or Saudi Arabia), with the right qualifications (MA in TESOL or Applied Linguistics, 2 or 3 years EFL experience) you can save about $3000 a month if you're relatively frugal by Glenski's definition. |

And, living in the ME with a nagging (!) wife of the nationality of Glenski's, you can still save that three grand w/o being frugal.
It's that darned yammering that keeps going on (Yes, dear, yes, dear, yes, dear!)!

Dear NCTBA,
Well, for goodness sake, politely ask her to stop saying "Yes, Dear."
Regards,
John
P.S. Just out of curiosity, would you know "frugal" if you stepped on it, and it hit you in the face? |
