I will be working at a new school this year and will be leaving next week to start. I have no clue where my old FEC is. Will the new school want this for the resident permit? I know that someone in China required it so I had to scan it- which is probably why I ended up misplacing it. Will the school just issue me a new FEC regardless of whether I have the old one or not? |

If your new job is in a different province, the old FEC is useless anyway. If it's the same one, they can just issue you a new one. You'd need a formal release form to reuse the old one.

Do not tell anybody you lost anything. If asked, which you shouldn't be, unless you bring it up, say you don't know where your FEC is. Say "Mo2", Henanhua for meiyou. If you "lose" an FEC, you must run an ad in a newspaper for two weeks or so and fill out a "loser's form" which basically says you are an idiot, to which you agree.
I've gotten a new FEC every time I have applied for a renewal so I have a few around. They have never renewed an FEC. Always a new one, to my recollection |

You're not supposed to keep these anyway when you leave your old jobs, or? |

Actually, I have heard this before. You're suppose to return it to your FAO or something like that.... <shrug> |

I had to hand mine in when I left one job and went to the next back in July. This was in Shanghai. |

Did your old job ask for it before you left? Or was there problems at the new job that required you to return the old one? |

The old job asked for it back. Apparently it was a new rule that just started this year (maybe just for my uni? Don't know) |

Number 2 in the notes in the back states clearly it should be returned to the organization that issued it. This would be the government Foreign Experts Bureau (or however you want to translate it). So the new school shouldn't want it or need it. |

That's right. The foreign expert's certificate is only valid for the duration of the contract with a specific school - belongs to the foreign expert's bureau if you like. The number is what you need to know. Makes it easier for the new school to get a new one, for some strange reason.
You can get the number from the F.E.B |

NO, my change was from one city to another and both times they claimed to need the FEC. I never did get them back and instead, a new FEC book took its place. |
