I read somewhere that it is ok for other woman and men to be in the company of a married couple... So if my husband and I went to a cinema and he had his friend come along and I had my friend come along would that be considered ok?

"JEDDAH: A film festival will be one of the highlights of the annual Jeddah summer festival, which kicks off on July 15.

A number of local and international movies will be screened between July 18 and 22 as part of the film festival, which will be held at the King Abdulaziz Cultural Center at Abrug Al-Righama east of the Haramain Expressway.

Speaking at a press conference in Obhur Sunday evening to announce the schedule and preparations for the 35-day summer festival dubbed Jeddah Ghair (Jeddah Is Different), Ghazi Al-Sulaimani, deputy mayor for strategic marketing and media, said the municipality has allocated SR8 million to create more than 250 activities for the city�s residents and visitors to enjoy during the summer vacation."

"JEDDAH: The Jeddah Film Festival that was scheduled to open Saturday at King Abdul Aziz Cultural Center was canceled at the eleventh hour, literally.

Mamdouh Salem, director of the Jeddah Film Festival, confirmed the cancellation, saying that he received an official notice from the Jeddah governorate at 11 p.m. on Friday ordering the festival canceled and leaving many attendees who had already arrived at a loss of words.

Salem, who put the total cost of the festival at around SR200,000, said the cancellation came at the last moment just when everything was ready. The adjudicating panel, which consists of Omani director Khaled Al-Zajali, UAE writer Khaled Al-Bodour, Saudi producer Majdi Wadou and writer Halema Muzafar, had already started their work early Friday.

I lived in Singapore for most of this year and there they have censorship... It took them 2 weeks to bleep out all the swearing on the MTV awards. While watching it I thought there was a problem with out TV signal because it kept on cutting out. That was until I realised that that half the songs being sung had been cut out due to bad language. It is interesting watching TV shows like knocked up... whole parts go missing

I suppose it would be too difficult in terms of what should be censored or not... How is the censorship on cable in Saudi? Is it the same as singapore?

I don't think there is cable TV in KSA, but the satellite TV has surprisingly little (and sometimes shockingly little) censorship. The local channels like Dubai One are of course heavily censored, but satellite seems to show pretty much anything. I had never seen Sex and the City before I went to KSA, and the only episode I watched while I was there was.....wow...don't even know how to describe it without offending the mods Embarassed
