|
|
Hello Everybody,
I am wondering how much information to include on my resume? How much "personal" information and data should be visible for potential employers. I am new to this whole process and have seen postings about questionable schools and am hesitant to provide my entire history, address, etc.
I appreciate your input - |

Dear jcgraney,
If you "google" ESL teacher resumes, you'll get a large number of samples and templates, such as this one:
http://susanireland.com/sampleresumes/resume/teaching04.html#__2
As far as "personal information" goes, I'd put as little as possible - maybe "married" or "single" or children IF that's relevant to the job.
Keep it to no more than two pages, if possible.
Regards,
John |

In fact, I would say that a newbie, or close to it, with very little of a career behind them, should be going for a one page cv. |

In line with the other posters, I have to ask just what are your qualifications and related work experiences so far? Those are obviously the main things you put on a resume. Once those are completed, how much space have you left? |

Hello All,
Thank you so much for your replies! Well my experience so far has been teaching French & German at the Community College level & teaching English to refugees/volunteer, so it won't really be over a page. I'm certified to teach French & have had other intl experience. I just wasn't sure whether I should include things like 'full address', etc.
Thank you again - |

Personally, I do include my address and phone details, as well as email. |

I include: my email, my phone, my city and country and the fact that I'm an American native speaker, (since I live in Peru and have taken my husband's last name and have dark hair and eyes, I inevitably get "how did you learn English?" or "how long have your family been in the US?" (NOt long really, just 105 years = |

Uh, how else are they supposed to mail you certain materials?
What else did you imagine included in "etc."? |

I have a version for Southeast Asia and one for the Americas. On my Asian version I include a passport type photograph (headshot) and personal details (single, height, weight.)
edit: not the picture to the left |

I don't put my address . I simply email them my full address when they ask for it. |

How common is that in Peru? In Japan, that would be considered strange. |

In Peru, you'd probably have to put your full address down. At least, taht's what Peruvians do. However, there's a new movement to just putting the district down, no one trusts anyone anymore. YOu cuold get robbed, or worse. BUT, I'm not applying for jobs in Peru AND, mail would probably get intercepted by the post man, so I'd have it sent to my parentsi n the US: |

In Ecuador it would be normal not to put a full address. And even if it's odd, there are sometimes reasons.
I don't have a full address for the resume I use internationally- I've been freelancing a good bit in the last couple of years. And where you send me something depends on when you're sending it.
(I was in Korea a year ago, Ecuador 10 months ago, Chicago 5 months ago, back in Ecuador now...address? Depends)
Best,
Justin |
