Well, just got me a Działalność Gospodarcza, so now I can invoice me clients, and schools won't have to jump through hoola hoops to hire me Amerikanski arse.
I'm looking for a good accountant in Warsaw who will help me minimize my taxes. Ideally I'd love to find a loophole and defer taxes indefinitely, but I'm sure that will be difficult.
If you know of a good English speaking accountant, PM me or post.
Also if you do your own taxes and ZUS payments without an accountant, please let me know.

Funny you should mention this, Tracer.
I do all my own taxes and ZUS payments and have never consulted a Polish accountant.
I am an American and have been living in Poland since 1986. As luck would have it, I also have never had to queue at any Polish government office ever (knock on wood!).
When I'm not sharing a laugh with the cheerful, approachable old gals at the local Dworzec Centralna, I can be found hoisting a tram above my head with one hand and beating Poles at vodka drinking contests with the other. |

Master Shake, you sound like a hell of a man. Hat's off to you. I can only aspire to some day stand in your mighty shadow.
I used to pay all of my own taxes for my small biz back in the states with no problem and I'm sure I can do it here, eventually.
Can you elaborate a bit on your process (minus numbers)?
1. Do you pay monthly or quarterly?
2. How much time does it take you to file?
3. Are you fluent in Polish?
4. What kind of deductions do you make? |

I was being a bit facetious there, Tracer - the point being I don't believe anyone could do their taxes without an accountant. |

Really.
Aren't all the instructions in Polish? Aren't there very complex rules about what can be deducted as business expenses, etc.?
Doing my US taxes in English last year was no walk in the park. |

Maybe you should learn how to use your brain because there are computer programs in Polish to help you. You can also use your girlfriend/wife to help you, therefore cutting down on the expense of hiring an accountant.
Can't you just get the section on what can be deducted translated into English? I'm sure a student or your work can help you with doing this. |

If it's so easy, why aren't you doing it? Why hasn't a single person posted to say that they do their taxes themselves with no professional help?
I met an English teacher recently who has had his own business for a while. He says he still makes mistakes deducting things that can't be deducted all the time, mistakes which his lawyer catches saving him from tax fraud charges. |
