IMHO, the Saudis are fully aware of their "place" and do not need you to tell them about it. The biggest problem for Saudis is the chip that they feel forced to wear on their shoulders by people like you who constantly remind them of the low opinion that the world has about them.

Saudi Arabia is a vast land made up of INDIVIDUALS and there is a great deal of variation among them. Many of them justifiably resent having to bear the stain of religious conservatives as their national "badge of honor" in front of the world. Do not tar them all with the same brush. Give 'em a break, and you will be delighted at what you can learn from them about surviving and thriving under difficult circumstances.

Compared to Neanderthals like you they're positively advanced. And don't complain about that statement, it's called 'telling the truth.'

Either youve literally bent over the rules for Saudis, or youre absolutely clueless with Saudis and general Saudi life. Now that, is what I call, Straight forward truth.

Dear funcky1274,

I'm curious - why would anyone who disdains Saudis as much as you seem to want to go there to teach them?

KKK members don't line up to teach in ghetto schools.

Regards,
John

Dear funcky1924,

" . . . sad to see they not reflecting true islam."

Well, except for the fact that your "they" is much too inclusive, I'm in agreement with you here. I'd say that a good number of Saudis do not practice what I consider to be "true Islam." A lot of cultural traditions and restrictions that have nothing to do with Islam are justified in its name.

However, I met a good number of Saudis in my time there who, in my opinion, were practicing "true Islam." So, I guess my beef with what you've been writing is that it's much too general.

Regards,
John

I agree with John,

I think your posts come off a little too strongly.

Dear funky1924,
Never lived on a compound in my 19 years there.

"You get the extreme ones and the lenient ones, but there is no in betweens in Saudi . . ."

What would an "in between" be? Half-extreme and half-lenient? I'm not trying to be sarcastic here; I just don't get your meaning.

I also agree that the working conditions for many "non-western" ex-pats and the way they are all too often treated/regarded is shameful.
Unfortunately, it's not at all unique to Saudi, either. In my part of the US, many "undocumented aliens" get very similar treatment - from "good Christian people."
You're going to find hypocrites and the uncaring wherever you go, sad to say.

"People, who dont treat others as humans, do no deserve to be treated as humans . . ."

Ah, but then YOU become as bad as they are. That's letting them win.
Treat everyone as you'd want to be treated, and don't become a hater or an inconsiderate idiot as they are.

Regards,
John
