Hi guys and girls!
I was interviewed by Dynamic Personnel a few days ago for a teaching position in the UAE. It was for a teaching post in a private English language school. Most of the children will be aged from 8-14.
I would like to know a few things.
(1) Does anyone have any dealings with Dynamic Personnel?
(2) What would a normal salary be for teaching children?
(3) Are there any schools which should be avoided?
(4) Which are the best areas to work in in the UAE?
(5) Can a teacher give private lessons?
(6) Can a teacher teach a language other than his/her mother tongue? (I have a qualification to teach French as well as English.)
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers! |

Try a quick search for an answer to some of your questions.
I've never heard of the recruiter and most schools don't use them - only the ADEC program so far as I'm aware. If the recruiter has asked you for $$ or copies of documents without giving details about the employer (like the name of the school) then I'd be very wary of their intentions.
Your visa allows you to work for one employer only - and most employers do not want you to work "privately" and may cost you your job - do people do it? Yes, be aware that the consequences for your "real" job security are put at risk by doing so.
You'd have to ask the school if you can teach French as well as English. |

Like Helen, I have never heard of this recruiter. Using recruiters is not the norm in the UAE, and most of us avoid them at all costs. With the exception of the huge new Ministry of Education contract, most employers direct hire.
Salary would depend on your credentials and experience. Do a search here on ADEC and you will find many threads about what is being offered to credentialed teachers in these jobs. (much depends on being certified in your home country)
Yes, there many horrible schools... that is why you need the name from the recruiter to check it out and see if you are even interested.
Which area is best to work is a matter of personal taste. If you like partying and the bright lights of the city, choose Dubai... if like me, you prefer a quieter city, there is Abu Dhabi... if you hate the humidity of the cities on the Gulf, Al-Ain may be best... etc.

Recruiters have been brought in to find teachers for schools that no one wishes to teach at. Good luck. It can be really really really difficult at first, so make sure the organization is taking care of every little detail. |

BTW... be sure to check out the scam post at the top of the page here on a sticky. Make sure these people are even legitimate (you have to figure it out from their ads... pay scale and email addresses). Do not under any circumstances send them any money for anything!!
There is no education employer in the UAE that requires that the employee pay any "visa fees" upfront.
