| You know, I was thinking about working in SA for a while, but the recent low salaries seem to be much lower than previously availble. |
Salaries have not gone down. Those places who paid well 2 years ago are still paying well today. It's just that, in the last year or so, a lot of new places have opened or expanded, and because of the very newness of these employers, they receive a lot of attention on this board and elsewhere. Some of these new employers offer lousy deals, but others aren't so bad.
As I've said before, if you have an MA and (sometimes or) decent experience, you should have little trouble finding a decent enough job paying at least SR12000 a month plus housing and benefits. |

That is unequivocally false, regarding both the recent and extended past in the Tragic Kingdom.
The Saudis have been criticized extensively for the disparity between salaries for TCN's vs. westerners for the same jobs. The appearance and now proliferation of these insulting salaries indicates that the Saudis' response is to achieve parity; they've chosen the wrong direction.
And you can easily beat SR12000 per month in the UAE. So why go to the Tragic Kingdom? |

No it isn't. I know for a fact that the more respected third level institutions have not lowered their salaries. In fact, many raised them quite considerably 2 years ago.

Most of us do not work in embassies or foreign owned companies, so the phrase "TCN" is inappropriate here. We are all hired foreign help, whether we be British or Bangladeshi.

Salaries in KSA - as in the rest of the Gulf - still vary greatly depending on your passport. Anyway, as I made clear in my last post, I was not talking about new employers, who do often pay very badly. I was talking about established third level institutions, who have - I repeat - not lowered their salaries.

Not everyone craves the Emirates' weird mix of sleaze and smugness. Anyway, the question was about salaries in KSA, not the UAE. |

I had to laugh at this. Why don't you criticize everyone who's brought up a comparison of the Tragic Kingdom with another country regarding any subject? You don't have time to do that.
Salaries in the Tragic Kingdom include both existing and new positions. If those you refer to aren't hiring, then it doesn't do anyone any good, does it? |

I'm glad I afforded you some merriment, but if I had made a similar comment about you, you'd already be whining about 'getting personal'.

Uhhhh...... when did I say they weren't' hiring? Can you provide an exact quote? |

Enough of this. We're crowding someone's thread with this ridiculous conversation. |

Hello,
As I see it from my experience a BA + Cert + min. 2 years exp. (Saudi preferred) you should be offered no less than 12000 SAR a month plus housing and all the perks.

When we were in Jeddah my ex-wife thought she was doing well to get 4000 SR a month. Qualified and experienced but local hire and she does not have that wonderful UK/US passport.
There are lots of teachers in KSA earning less trhan 4000 SR a month. |

| I have been offered $32,000 for 12 months with aetg which works out at just over 2,500 a month. tax free isnt bad. However I'm from Ireland and I was earning that after tax while I was teaching in a primary school last year. I'm sure I'll be able to save more out there than I can back home. |
