I don't have experience with this but you might want to look at a DELTA or, if you have a four-year degree already, a graduate certificate (or even master's degree) in TESL. Are you sure the "many online ones" aren't initial entry-level TESL certificates? |

Both the Cambridge DELTA and the Trinity Diploma in TESOL, both of which are UK TESOL qualifications (though I do believe that some centres in Australia and NZ also offer them), are aimed principally at those who have at least two years' worth (about 1,200 hours) of front-line classroom teaching experience with groups of students (thus effectively excluding one-to-one teaching).
They both can be done by online and distance learning, except that they also require full-time intensive attendance in order to complete the requirements. The DELTA requires students to attend an orientation course at the starting point but the Trinity Diploma apparently does not.
Both of them nevertheless require the completion of practical teaching in front of properly-appointed Cambridge and Trinity tutor-moderators who should be satisfied that they are sure that your teaching and knowledge are up to the standard required for you to be awarded the qualification.
The two website links below should prove useful to you:
