It's VERY difficult to find work in Europe... I get that.

Of course I'm interested in teaching for the sake of teaching. I'm not going into it just to escape unhappiness at home. However, I live in the States and my heart is in Latin culture and not here. I studied abroad in college and have yet to recover from the reverse culture shock. Part of it is boredom, styaing in one place and being settled down is driving me bananas.

It's difficult to find work in Spain, I get it. (Of course, I'm gonna try).

But what are a North American teacher's prospects of finding work in Latin America?

I'm studying my TEFL certificate soon, and I have my degree (in Spanish), and experience teaching Spanish. I just need to get certified (I poicked out the Trinity TESOL after doing my research).

This person I work with says that there are no paid jobs teaching EFL in Latin America and that it's only for wealthy people and retirees... that I'm pretty much stuck in USA.

I think this is baloney.

Maybe there aren't lucrative jobs, but if they're not paid... why does anyone do them? Just wanted to clarify!!

Am I right? I'd love to hear from you.

Didn't you already post a very similar thread a month or two ago?
