IH is trying to recruit teachers on another website. BEWARE...You will hate your job and you will especially hate IH Saudi Arabia and the way they will treat you. They have been tossing people over the side for years but people sill seem to hire on. Pass the word to save teachers from a time of misery and degradation while they are in the Kingdom working for this shiftless organization. |

Dear Beast,
" . . . working for this shiftless organization."
Actually, it's not shiftless; it has all kinds of shifts: split shifts, evening shifts, etc.
But I totally agree with your warning; heck, I don't even like their pancakes.
Regards,
John

Hey, what is IH? Please do tell: I'm new and almost got scammed by the people posing as the Dubai British School, so I would appreciate to know all of the scammers! |

Dear waiting4visa,
IH = International House, a chain of language schools. Generally considered to to be not such a great place to work.

Hey John
The Belfast IH was fab. I did my Celta there. Couldn't understand the tutors but it was a cool place to be. Just imagine having loads of Arabic speakers with a Belfast accent. ( speaking English obviously not Arabic... ) Mind you, Arabic with a Belfast accent... cool....
LOL - always looking on the bright side of life. |

Dear LOL,
Well, it's good to know that there's at least one IH outside the Kingdom that swings.
But of those inside, I can't recall hearing even one word of approval.
Regards,
John |

Looks like I will be starting a spreadsheet to track all of the questionable places...
Do they do the "withhold letter of release/recommendation" for the 1-3 years for the KSA, or is it just a miserable place to work? |

IH is a franchise. So the quality of the individual institutions varies considerably.
It's normally considered near the top of the pile, below the British Council but still respectable. The Saudi outfit appears to be the exception that proves the rule. |

IHOP = International House of Pancakes
So you can learn ersatz English while you put ersatz maple syrup on your pancakes. |

I have heard that it is a good outfit. I got my CELTA at one in the US!
So then the KSA is the bad apple, for whatever reasons. Hmmm.
There is always ONE in every crowd... |
