Any news about this relatively new organization? There is absolutely nothing about it on Dave's! |

Thanks John! Actually, I was looking more for comments about the current state of affairs there. Any objective information about the school itself is easily located on the school's website...
An earlier thread implied that the school was simply a replacement for GMU, and therefore destined to failure...is this still the case? |

If I was a betting woman, I would say that is a very safe assumption. My radar hasn't picked up a peep about it. So, I expect that means that there aren't many Westerners there any more. (who tend to be the ones who show up here)
One of those links suggested that they had a whole 100 students in April of this year.

Rumors from my friends in RAK make it sound rather .... .... .... interesting.
They brought back the same admin who "ran it into the ground" when it was GMU. Many of the teachers are the same ones who were there as GMU, but now they are AURAK.
My friends who are there say it is "better than it was under GMU, but still very shakey and needs to get figured out."
According to my friends, they were advertising since May, but they didn't have a complete webpage in english or arabic until the start of September. |

I didn't realize there were already teachers working there....Any idea of how much they make? Accomodation/housing allowance? Number/types of students? Are they mixed gender classes? |

The director is the same ogre that GMU fired. She is the one who fired the popular dean of student affairs while she was out sick with a life-threatening condition!...even though dean was to be absent only about two weeks. The rest of us were scum as far as she was concerned. She came on like a dockyard boss. **** her. |

Don't know much about the current Admin, but it has a great new campus. Owned by one of the Sheik of RAK's brother's. |

Evening, friends.
Much like post-war Germany, the SS is no longer in charge (I think she went to Lesotho).
I looked at the institution's information - and it's prototypical UAE: Grandiose Mission/vision ---- and facts are forthcoming, at a later date.
Looking at the faculty list, I'm skeptical about long-term success --- but the UAE has seen a couple of surprises, here and there. |
