How do you maintain your work life balance?
Do you have one?

Lifes too short ........there should be a bit more to it than looking forward to retirement at 66! |

I am not sure that I know what a "life-work balance" is. I think I will ask the Bangladeshi cleaner. |

A life?
Try to simulate/live/entertain/satisfy yourself inside your room for months, see what is lacking inside such as (own fridge, entertainment package) the common wants in your day2day activity. Once you got all building blocks all together in one and get accustomed to IT!!
Whalla!! thats life in KSA.
I'm in Kuwait but I got 1-3 months project in Riyadh. And I survived in that way (In ramadan,I talk to myself infront of the mirror in our flat , cant get out to smoke ). To scary really to be in that situation.
It works trust me. Are you single? Violent Femmes - Blister in the sun |

As Cleopatra always says, it is possible to have a social life, but you'll have to go and look for it.
In addition to more solitary activities like reading and watching DVDs, you could organise game nights at your and your friends' places, eat out, go camping/picnicking in the desert, etc. There are many 'normal' things that you and your colleagues/friends can do together... You'll just have to try and stay positive.
I thought teachers went to Saudi Arabia FOR the salaries... So, save some and SPEND some. Go on holiday and buy things that you like that give you pleasure or spend it in whichever way you seem fit. If you can't have a life on a teacher's salary in Saudi Arabia, then somewhere something's seriously wrong... |

Our Klub 500 friends will be horrified!
Seriously, though, there is a reasonable variety of things to do in KSA if you are prepared to spend money and if you are willing to put in the effort of tracking them down and arranging transport etc (esp. if you are a woman). |

You have to get over that huge psychological barrier that the 500 Club find impossible. You have to SPEND MONEY !
