I really do prefer to teach adults. I have a degree, Celta and 10 years experience. I have taught uni and business English.
Any advice on where to look? |

Nabby, I am not 100% certain and I sure that my fellow posters on here will correct me if I am wrong but from I have been told that the Wall Street Institute is geared more towards adults or university students and graduates.
It might be worth talking with them. |

Thanks farther.
Actually, I don't mind teaching a few kids classes. But hate the idea of ONLY kids classes.
Anybody know how many kids classes a teacher gets at KELT, TBI or anywhere else? |

Hi
I have some friends who work with Berlitz and it seems they teach a lot of adults, although this could change depending on the customer base. |

Hi Nabby, probably a bit late to reply but...
I used to work at Kelt in Surabaya and to be honest you'll find that a lot of your classes will be children or teens, it seems to be the way the English teaching market is going in Indonesia. However, the DoS and senior staff there are usually happy to try to organise the schedule as much as possible to people's preferences. There will be teachers there who prefer young learners classes and those who prefer young adults or adults. There's no guarantee you won't get a bit of everything but be aware you won't always get what you want.
Having said that, I have to say that, like you, I went there with no interest in teching children (all my previous experience had been adult business students in Germany) but I was aware that I'd have to teach children. I found that, at first, as much as possible I was given older classes and then I gradually worked my way 'down' to children. I eventually,(don't know how it happened!) found myself specialising in the kindergarten classes which I loved so much that I am now doing a PGDE in Primary teaching back in the UK. But I also made it known that I liked Business and adult exam courses so got to teach those when possible.
If you're really set on Indonesia and older students, you could try IALF as they tend to do more courses for IELTS candidates, ie. older students.
Good luck! |

I have worked at both Berlitz and Wall Street Institute and Wall Street is far superior to the other. It is way more professional, fairer and more honest and offers far better contracts. My two bob's worth but a fair analysis after doing one year contracts at each school. |

I still can't get beyond the Wall Street Institute's advertisement that eventually made its way onto a page-a-day calendar: "Imporve your English, be competitive in the Job Market! Wall Street Institute, the world no. 1 English course specialist prepares lots of special offers for you."
Besides, these days Wall Street (as in the iconic New York financial market) isn't exactly engendering good feelings. |

Wall Street Institute (WSI) is pitched to adult learners.
BCLI in Bandung is mostly for adults.
I'm reasonably familiar with both of these.
I'm not aware of any other English-language "schools" in Indonesia with an adult focus. |
