Dear Deicide,

Missing the point in threads is what we DO around here. And we love our work.

John

But then I am really the only one that matters eh? In this I am unique... (too?)

It's perfectly possible to find opportunities for both (if one wishes) outside of marriage.

Having entered into Matrimonial Bliss twice, I am pleased that I am now a free human again.

Dear JS,
I do not know really whether you enjoy being single, or, just the experience of having been married once is enough- but either way, you don't seem to have done poorly, at all. Congratulations. I and my wife had our 25th ann.(silver, they call it) on the 2nd Nov and we didn't have too many regrets. We do fight and the upsides and downsides are all there but at the end of the day I wouldn't call it a bad deal at all. It takes a lot of patience to stay together, wallah! The major problem is with the kids and relatives, Very Happy , Sad , Shocked , Evil or Very Mad , Cool Crying or Very sad , Confused ,and so on.

Tell like it is, brother! Husbands and wives are like cats an' dogs. But, at the end of the day, if they were meant for each other, they stick together like glue. The missus and I have a throw-down on the average of a fortnight to a month, but we're only letting the tension of our lives out.

We love and respect each other and are thick-skinned enuf to realize it.

Like an ol' Irish-American Boston cop counseled me long ago when I wuz a newly-wed in my mid-30's, "Getting mad is good...it's only when you don't get mad is when you should worry because that's when you stop caring"...

Well NCTBA - I beg to differ. Getting mad can also be about maintaining control and instilling fear. Also, getting the silent treatment can be the worst thing in the world because you are so afraid of what is brewing.

Just NEVER go to bed mad with each other. ALWAYS make up ASAP. And, if you're smart, you'll know that saying "I'm sorry" costs not a thing but is priceless.

John

But... But... I thought "love is never having to say you're sorry." Were the book and movie of the same name lying? What a let down!! Shocked

Or does that only refer to death bed scenes... Laughing

lol- It's all about your relationship. My wife, being Asian, we agree with equality.

John, disengagement can always be beneficial. Sleeping away from each other...maybe five times in nearly 20 years has kept us together as we give each other time to consider each others' perspective.

VS, a couple of lil' naked kids? Please stop dating us as 95% of people watching this board have NO idea what yer talking about...

"To tread the troubling path most dark,
Upon this journey doth each embark,
A swarthy wood, with wiles unknown,
Through blackened bramble hath sun neer shone,
Stumbling steps howbeit true,
Hollow husk of heart doth rue,
On welkins way did long I ponder,
Fool, forsaken, forever yonder,
Whence and whither I come and go,
Glibly, freely, to and fro,
Devilish doing hath me deceived,
False freedoms fear be not believed,
Naught but yonders yearning slave,
Lovelorn, longing did I crave,
This wicked world in no wise kind,
Callous cruelty did I find,
In dins deception did I seek,
Across the bounds both great and meek,
Never finding what was sought,
Despair and doom so often thought,
But ever eyeless hath been my sight,
For in thy love found I light,
With welcome words thou hast me shown,
Warm fires hearth that call I home,
Through reasons right am I reborn,
This love I bore was never lorn.
Words are wisps, they falter, fail
Feelings far beyond the pale,
For all is but shadow, shallow, moonlit cast,
My love for thee so very vast,
Thus to thee, heart now mend,
Feeble, faulty, words I send,
Now very nigh to being whole,
Tendest thou to my soul,
For thine is my love, its fires neer fade,
For thee alone was this poem made."

Dwear Deicide,

Much as I hate to nitpick (Yeah, right) "unique" cannot be modified. And, of course, everyone's DNA (one's genetic "material") is unique (if it's not, CSI is in BIG trouble.)

John

Dear John,

I also hate to nitpick, but the DNA of monozygotic twins is not unique.

What would CSI do if there were ever an identical twin perpetrator?

My best,
Rick

Dear Interrick,

Lock them both up. Let God sort it out.

Regards,
John

P.S. They've (of course) already used the identical twin ploy on CSI: Las Vegas.

Identical twins have identical nuclear DNA (which is what most people hear about as DNA) but NOT exactly identical mitochondrial DNA.

So the term "identical" twins is really not accurate, which is why scientists use the term monozygotic (which means arising from one egg).
