I have my first phone interview today. The company looks really good, appears to be gaijin-owned and it's websites/Facebook page/forums have made a left a really positive impression.

Anyway, what are some dos and donts with phone interviews for ALT job recruiters?

Cheers!

Nothing like waiting until the last minute to ask for advice. Have you already had your interview? Can't really expect people to respond instantly here.

Do a search. Answers to your question exist on previous posts.

Take your pants off. Just be honest - if you want to go to Japan and teach then I assume both of these things genuinely hold an appeal for you. Be ready to articulate why.

Just out of interest, what's the company that's had so many favourable reviews?

Unless they use Skype. Besides, they can hear plenty from the tone in one's voice.

I don't think one or two beer would make much difference in the tone of one's voice......if anything it should relax them enough to breeze through the interview........

Obvious stuff but prepare WELL ahead of time by thinking of the kinds of questions they might ask and of ways to answer. You can find tons of EFL interview questions online. Don't forget to think of job-related questions that you'd like to ask - class size, resources and materials, classrooms, how long most people stay with the company, teaching approach etc.
But of course, you'll be seeing this after the fact...
