Why did you choose your avatar. I have to admit I've been trying to get an avatar for ages. It always ended up with the same result- that red cross. a couple of days ago though I tried a different site and WOW FINALLY, I got one. It was a half hearted choice just to see if it worked, and it did. Over the past couple of days I've become quite attached to it though. Why? I bgan to wonder what does your avatar show about you? I decided that mine represented my curiousity about life and wanting to know what's going on? So when I see other avatars what do I deduce For example: When I see John's I think 'Ah he's the kid who always knows the answer' we have all now deduced that Caper is the sex goddess of the board. LA is in search of his, ahem, p ussy. I am a trifled worried about khmerit's new avatar. Has he hit the bottle. Is he now tanked up?

Mine, for all the folks who have told me that I need to shave, is not, I repeat, NOT me. It's Dionysus, the Greek god of wine. I've got him tattooed on my back.

Why Dionysus? Because when I was in university and very close to majoring in Classics (went the Peace & Conflict Studies route instead), I found him to be the most fascinating figure. Hell, I've been fascinated with Greek mythology since I think the 4th grade.

Another reason--Dionysus Arrow Denise. My name means "wine goddess."

Just to clarify: The little guy in the picture is NOT me. Wink

I think I'm in love with my new avatar. In fact, maybe I'm just answering this post so I can show it off..

I originally wanted either a pegasus or a penguin, but someone here already uses a pegasus and I couldn't find a good penguin pic that I liked.

I chose Zippy from Rainbow because, thanks to several years living in hippy-land one, of my nicknames is 'rainbowe' (yes, with an e). But apart from being all peace and love from time to time, I can also be a bit Zippy-like. For those who don't know, Rainbow was this really weird kids show from the UK and Zippy was one of the characters.

By the way, I don't look like my avatar either... Wink

Dear dmb,
Actually, I've never "identified" with my avatar; if anything, I've thought of the person pictured more as being a student in one of my classes (not that there have been all that many who would wave their hands wildly, shouting, "Me, teacher - call on me, pleeeease"). And, strangely enough, though I admit that, as a teacher, I like such students (well, better than the ones who never participate at all), as a student, I wasn't at all fond of the %$#@*& over-achievers. When my ex-Significant Other was thinking about going to grad school, I encouraged her. But I also warned her:
"Remember all those kids in grammar school, who, whenever the teacher asked a question, would have their hands up before the question was even finished, who would practically have a fit trying to attract the teacher's attention, who would contemplate suicide if they got only a 98% on a test? Well, guess what - those %$#@*s are all going to be your classmates in grad school".
Regards,
John

Hmm. I had a mango before. I love mangos. Both green and ripe. I felt I could identify with the mango. Plus, I love food that is orange, and the color of ripe mango flesh is extremely attractive to me.

Now I have a picture of...myself. I'm going through tropical withdrawal. The picture serves to remind me there is a warmer, gentler place where I get to wear less clothes.

It's the damn 40 degree spring we've been handed here in New England that made me do it....

Hey all!

Well, I'm tired of my old avatar. Let's see if this new one works. I think it reflects my personality a bit more. Razz I'm in a good mood because I finally decided on where to go to graduate school and finish my Master's degree. Yipee! I'll be done in August of 2005!

I had my MJ Frog because:

1. he is my favourite
2. he is my tattoo.

But alas, he turned into a white box with a red cross and I have yet to be able to get him back...*pout pout*

Dear foster,
Huh? I thought frogs were supposed to turn into princes. You mean, those fairy tales aren't TRUE??

Well, I feel an affinity for wolves. They wander about a lot, are often misunderstood, and are very picky over who they call friends. Kind of like me.

Anyway, I had the wierd idea of matching my avatar to my screen name.

I've had several different ones. All of them have made me laugh. This current one is from "Saved by the Bell"...at one time a popular after school television program. The show was notorious for it's outright cheesiness. Usually they'd avoid any issue that could potentially be important to a teenager (the word "$ex" was never mentioned once in 200 episodes), but sometimes they'd make a lame attempt at "tackling" one. My avatar is an example of this.

The girl crying in my photo (Jessie Spano) needed to stay up very late to study for an important test. She decided to go to a drugstore and buy some caffiene pills. Much to the dismay of Slater and Zack, this became a habit. She "needed" them, but promised she'd stop. After crashing from a caffiene pill induced high, Zack discovered she had a private cache of pills. At this point, she completely wigged out, and one of the most hilarious moments in television history ensued.

I originally had a galloping centaur. However, the lad turned out to be far too much of a clydesdale and chewed up half the screens in ESLdom. I removed it as courtesy to others. Wink

I've always liked animals, especially the big cats. I chose my current sidekick as the result of a dream I had. Lately, I've given some consideration to updating my "look".

It's a valid question. I'm not sure I can answer it. My first avatar, Sparkle Pants Girl, was meant to be a stand-in until I found something more suitable. However, I got lots of compliments on my avatar, so I kept her around for a while. After seeing LOTR: ROTK, I decided that I *must* have Eowyn for my avatar - strong, fearless, powerful, and beautiful. Then I lost my Eowyn to a site glitch. Sad So I found a cute little Barbie girl to fill her place for the time being, but luckily Eowyn has made a triumphant return. I absolutely love the sword. Twisted Evil

My daughter has a lot of fun checking out all of your avatars. She really likes Sara Avalon's tiger and Johnslat's schoolboy. Shaman's big puddy tat scares her a little bit. She keeps asking me how "someone" (Khmerhit) got inside the TV to take Thomas the Tank Engine's picture. Laughing

By the way, dmb, thank you for the "sex goddess" label. Have we met? Wink
