Is Bahrain shut down during the Eid holiday, ie. no booze, etc? I may be there in a few weeks and could do with a beer.

No doubt someone with more recent information will be along shortly, however I am pretty sure you will not have a problem in getting a beer in any of the hotel bars and restaurants around the Island. The liquor stores will be closed for Eid but not the bars (unless the fundamentalists who dominate the 'Parliament' are allowed to have their way).

My feeling was that Ramadan was when they tried to enforce prohibition. I think in the coming Eid holiday you boozehounds will be able to pursue your doses of C2HO5H.

The liquor stores used to close for at least part of the eid - not for reasons of puritanism but more so the staff could also enjoy the holiday. This never affected the bars and licensed restaurants though.
