So in perusing the forums I saw one upset poster talking about his wife being assaulted by a student. I'm not sure what this means but any female teachers out there I would like to know what you experiences have been with how you have been treated by students and faculty, if there have ever been issues and if it is a 'your hands are tied' situation if there are, as my girlfriend plans to be moving with me.

Thais are very peaceful etc and try to remain Jai Yen (cool heart) all the time. To have Jai Rorn (hot angry heart) is bad and reflects badly. Other people will actually avoid you and you will be noticed if u r the type of Thai who hits people.

Assaulting a woman is rare.

I have heard of rare instances where a teenage lout will shove or push a teacher, but it's rare.

Teachers are still held in high esteem by most Thais. Less so now, but more so than in, say, Chicago. To hit a teacher will be bad news and maybe get expulsion. Note that some grade schools and high schools here still hit or cane the kids.

I am not a female, but I have never heard of a female teacher being assaulted by a student. If it were true then the student has just ended their education as other schools will not permit that student to attend the school.
