Hello all,
I apologize for previous post. I completely misunderstood comment and thought 240 was dealing with cost of electricity and was not thinking about voltage.
I had no idea that the difference would ruin U.S. devices. Thanks for the warning.

Most of here who have dual voltage items... have managed to fry a few of them when they were set at 110 and we plugged them into 220/240. It is almost an instantaneous smell of burning plastic/wiring. Both times I did it, it was on the night I arrived, so I could blame jetlag instead of stupidity.
