Hello everyone,
I'm currently a student about to graduate with an MA in TESL. I'm wondering what can I expect to earn in Saudi Arabia based on my qualifications. Here is some info about me:

MA in TESL
BA in English
Graduate certificate in Instructional Technology
State certified to teach secondary English (6-12)
State certified to teack k-12 Spanish
I have reading ability in Arabic and some comprehension (working on that).

I'm a US citizen and native speaker of English.
I'm female & Muslim (not sure if that matters)

Expect to get paid around $3,000 us dollar per month plus free housing and healthcare. Now is a good time to apply so go for it.

Do not accept anything less than SR 12,000 ($3,200) per month. Make sure you avoid recruiters/agencies. Come on an Employment Visa. Some other benefits that are pretty standard are:

Medical
Airfare (annually)
Visa Expenses
Monthly Travel Allowance
Housing Allowance (around SR18,000 to SR35,000 annually)
OR Housing Provided

Be sure to negotiate these details as much as possible prior to arriving in Saudi Arabia.

Agree with the last poster. Do not accept less than SR12000 (and try to get more than that) plus all of the benefits he mentions.

Also, my strong advice is that you do not come here on a 'business' visa, no matter what some posters tell you.

That is a VERY strong CV for ME work. Being Muslim and a woman you will be able to easily get UNI positions teaching women. Go for it and apply!

Hi, You should apply to King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. I was offered 16,172 SR per month and 17,000 SR a year for housing. In addition, I will get 9,000 SR. for setting up my apt. I don't have a MA, but I do have over eight years of ESL teaching exp, so that might even out to be around the same pay. The university is expanding the English program and they need to hire at least 20-30 teachers (both male and female) for next sem. (Feb. 20). Good luck!

17,000SR is quite low for housing allowance, so you may well have to dig into your salary to rent a decent apartment. Also, given that most Saudi apartments are completely unfurnished, lacking even AC units, 9000SR won't go very far.

Still, not a bad deal in other ways, particularly as you don't have an MA.

Would I have a choice? I would prefer to work at a university, but I would rather receive the housing allowance. I'll be going there with my husband and children, and I don't suppose the housing they provide accommodate families, or does it? My husband is Saudi, and if we live in Jeddah, we'll already have housing.

Should I go on an employment visa and not mention my family, then? After all, my husband and children have both American and Saudi passports. Would mentioning my family hurt my chances of finding a job?

When I go there, I will either have only one semester of teaching in a university setting as part of my program. My program includes a one semester practicum of supervised teaching and a one semester internship where I teach unsupervised and get paid for it.

You don't get a choice as to what sort of visa you go on - you take what the employer offers you. Like other posters, I don't think you should touch any job which does not provide a proper work visa.
