				| I am wondering what to do with my US bank account-- There isn't a whole lot in there, we're not talking a great deal, maybe a months salary, part of me thinks its wise to cancel my account and take all the money with me in cash/traveler's checks etc in order to stay liquid, but then I remember reading for certain VISA requirements/ease of entry in some countries a document of your home country's bank account information (exceeding $1000) is a good thing to have/required--
 What did you do?
I have a VISA credit card, and will be starting a job upon arrival and I don't plan to come back to the US for at least 2-3 years--
Is such documentation of a bank information needed?
I feel more comfortable having all I have with me in the country I will be living--
 What do the experts say?

				| i have never needed a bank statement to travel in southeast asia. some countries, such at vietnam and thailand state that u must have a minimum amount of money to enter the country, but i have never been asked to show my bankroll, nor do i know of anyone that has.
if u are going to have an open visa account from a us bank, it might be wise to leave your bank account in the states open so u can have payments made from that account. would save on exchange rate conversions and time and effort to make payments. also, it is a good idea to have an emergency stash of money back home in case an emergency arrives here. just bring your atm card with u

				| Mexico has the same for car importation and the like. They simply don't ask for proof of income even though the law states it is a requirement. | |
