This nearly-worthless piece of paper I will use to the best of its potential, as I did the course already for $179 US.
Unis are out I know. Does that leave me with only these "dershanes" as they are called? What is the best bet for me with these qualifications? Private lang. schools? What is the equivalent in Turkey of the Korean hagwon? Will I be able to teach a slight bit above that type of zoo-like e3nvironment? Pls advise, all you Turkish experts. |

Unis are not necessarily out. You've just got to have patience and maybe get lucky.
From what I've heard, hagwons are slightly worse than dershanes. Actually, dershanes aren't that bad. Well, the students aren't that bad. The management can be something altogether different, depending where you are. |

You are a viable candidate at almost any Turkish private school. If your 2 year experience is in Istanbul, then you could probably get hired anywhere. If it is not, then you will probably have to serve some time at one of Istanbul's wretched private schools, where teaching more accurately could be described as "prison guarding." Be selective and beware! But you can definitely find a job. You don't have to go the dershane route at all. I have heard of i-to-i and know many people working at prestigious places with this certificate. It's not that useless. It's a formality. It makes the the Ministry of Education happy. |

hahaha. No actually its here in South Korea....where "......." as I've often mentioned to my wife teaching can more accurately be described as "BOUNCING IN A BAR".
Thx 4 this info, you and coffee and the rest.
Last question: IF INDEED I MUST SERVE AT ONEOF THESE MORE WRETCHED SCHOOLS, what min. salary should I "demand" (hahaha. I'll demand nothing or I wont get the job, right?
Could I "demand" atleast 2500 ytl/month, including sponsorship for work visa? Or will I be likely faced with teaching illegally? |
