I know this is not directly related to the forum but I would like to do such a personalization of my posts. I can find no place in the Profile/edit profile page in which to add such an avatar/pic.

Somewhere along the line... about the same time as the number of posts to do PMs was moved down to 5... it seems that a rule that 100 posts are needed before you get to have an avatar was instituted. I'm just guessing as to time, but just before this we had a newbie here who joined and immediately added a lovely avatar that unfortunately filled half of my screen. Laughing I don't think it was her fault and she changed it as soon as she realized how big it was, but it was soon after that that people started asking this question. Someone asked the powers what be around here and were told the 100 number. I expect it is another rule that stems from abuse by some members.

Once you reach 100, at the bottom of your profile page will magically appear the box to have an avatar. Then you merely copy and paste the url from an avatar site.

Dear Dominic-Pax,

It's fact, but BillCowher has only 14 left to go; that was his 86th post.

Regards,
John

It had been confirmed with board management. I have no idea when or if they may change it. The no-PM rule dropped from 25 to 5, so you never know.

Now I've had the Saudi experience twice & the "experience" is something I wish I had never experienced. Lots of talk about going on Business or Government Visit visas being not the way to go. Few have mentioned how to go any other way because it seems that most companies engaged in ESL are hiring solely through recruiters and other third-party entities. The scheme is designed to keep teachers under their thumbs with no legal recourse.

In my life these last 2 jobs are the only ones I have been flat out lied to in the employment correspondence. Several times I went to Korea on the promise of a legal work visa to be gotten and in all cases except one that just came to mind; they were gotten in due time. In that one situation I was "hired" as temp help only to fill in for a legal teacher doing his documentation in some other country. My position was to take over for 28 days until he could arrive. The job was ASAP & due to the preceding teacher doing a "runner" & I should have known better.

New Rules for Avatars:
Quote:
In the light of abuse by some posters, avatars must clearly show the face (uncovered) of the poster occupying at least 60% of the allotted image size. Personal email and work telephone number should be superimposed on the bottom of the image, but not obscuring facial details. Once reaching 500 posts, posters who wish to upgrade to the Premium level will be able to substitute a cute furry animal for the facial picture, provided they have not posted in any threads that were later locked.

In the example on the left, you can clearly see the email: [email protected], but they won't let me near the telephone, something about hygiene.

Is this a sticky? I just found it after a bit of looking. 100 posts seems like a lot of scribbling when one goes to this site for information the majority of times....well, such is my assumption.
