Are MEXT considering scrapping of the horrendous Eigo Note ? But does this also mean scrapping elementary English altogether ? The Ministry is apparently asking teachers their opinions to see if they can overturn the decision or even get the Eigo Note reinstated.

I heard this from a friend who heard this, so it must have come from somewhere .....

This is what I heard. I do not want to spread rumours, but has anyone else also heard of this ? The source must be from Japanese so if anyone has any concrete links to this, please post it so the rumour can be identfied and stopped.

Thanks.

Shocked I bet that came from a non-English speaker.

Glenski, thanks for that link. There are some things I should read more about before making any comments. But for now, I will spew freely.

It also reflects the much criticized government guideline against teaching any reading and writing.

Against teaching reading and writing? WTF? Am I missing something?

but has also received much criticism for lacking a coherent syllabus and feeling too Japanese

I would like to see this program and confirm the above points.
