Saharasters, are you joking ... or taking yourself too seriously? Today's quiz question: What sisterhood has no sense of humor? Answer: a Women's Studies department.
VS has pointed out before the predicament I mentioned of male instructors.
I hope you don't teach English, by the way. You definitely can't spell.
Eeeeewwwww. |

Now kids... no fighting... trying to out-ewwwww each other?
Saharstars...
SnB was bringing up a point that has been discussed here in the past. Outside of Saudi, men often teach female students. They tend to be VERY flirtatious with the male staff and it is VERY dangerous for the male staff to respond in other than a jocular/fatherly way. Not always easy for them with some of these exceptionally beautiful girls. And there seemed to be a rule that the most buxom female students were the ones that wore rather low cut tops.
But we in the sisterhood of female teachers did get a chuckle out of it.

Yes, I agree with VS on this one. A newcomer might think that some of these male teachers who talk about Arab females flirting with them had inflated egos indeed, but I have seen it and can attest to what these men suffer. I have never seen such flirtatious women, and they can flirt with nothing showing but eyes. It's hard for even the most serious, puritanical male at times.
And it's not only the Arab girls. SnB, remember the flirtatious Muslim girls in Malaysia? I remember the young male teachers suffering there as well. It seems that the more a girl covers up, the more concentrated her ability to flirt can become. This is not to say they are not virtuous, but just human, female, and young. |

Sure, Mia. In my Malaysian days I was single, and you know what dating is like in KL/PJ for a single western man in his 30s. I wound up marrying a Chinese from there a few years after I left. (Uhm....four subsequent years in Japan delayed the marriage instinct.)
Don't forget that young ladies have egos too--everyone does. They (well, many) need to feel attractive, which is partly what the flirting is all about. It may be all manipulation in the Middle East, but the manipulation comes from ego--their only access to power.
After all those years and experiences in East Asia I found that I admire Chinese the most, not only because of their great beauty and intelligence but because they know what they want. If they flirt, it's because they actually want you. If they're not interested, they don't waste everybody's time flirting. What you see is what you get (if that doesn't sound too sexist). I really admire that honesty--and their passion in love. Oh--and if a Chinese happens to be a dragon lady...she acts like one. Therefore: avoid. Bada bing, bada boom. Guys appreciate all this! (Even at my age ) |
