You should be more offended by what the contractors are getting over there which is also paid for by the American taxpayer. At least taxes are coming out of the civil servant's salary which makes what s/he receives much less in the end. The contractor is not taxed on the first 80 thousand or so. Also, and I saw this firsthand, the product the contractor provides is often vastly inferior to what was promised. And finally, the individual who exists in that environment earns every penny of that near six-figure salary. Believe me!

Amen to that! This is a far cry from riding a subway in Seoul or Tokyo to a day of English at a Hagwon/Eikaiwa/high school. |

Can't be much worse than teaching kids all day... Joking of course!
What's the work atmosphere like at DLI? I mean, is it pretty relaxed? How about the dress code? |

There's a lot more admin than in your typical ESL/EFL job and certainly, more rules that hold the teachers to a higher standard. No official dress code but common sense seems to dictate what people wear. Basically, it's similar to any other white collar job in America
